The piano can be heard not only in concert halls, but also in the open air!
Composer and performer Björn Gottschall wants to bend codes, making his instrument mobile and taking it to spectacular locations: by the sea, in gardens, in the forest or on the roof of a building…
A special atmosphere, a special setting, Björn is always on the lookout for places where he can develop his music in harmony with the elements, the weather, the atmosphere, and thus create an encounter with the audience.
Nature becomes a theatre, and the passer-by a spectator.
Björn has never liked the black lacquered cabinet on pianos or the addition of white plastic on the keys.
For him, it symbolizes the elitist conventions of classical music, which he refuses to conform to.
By modifying his piano in unconventional ways, removing parts not essential to its functioning – an absolutely minimalist approach – he expresses in his own way his freedom of creation and thought.
Björn sees his music as a substance in motion.
Each performance is unique and adapts to the context of the present circumstances.
As a result, he looks for formulas, patterns and methods that enable him to improvise on precisely chosen bases.
Its aim is to acquire freedom through rules and constraints.
Björn’s atypical and unexpected proposal was noticed by
numerous media, including M6 (12:45 report), France Info, France Bleu, La Dépêche, Ouest France…
Over 2.5 million listens on streaming platforms.
Over 10,000 followers on Instagram.
Over 100,000 views on YouTube.
2 albums, 1 EP and numerous singles.
The latest album, “Murmures Nomades”, released in 2022, was born between Cancale and St Malo, with his piano battered by rain, sun and wind.
It’s a collection of pieces for solo piano, mostly based on old lullabies.
With his friend Damien Pavane and his modular synthesizers, he has just composed the original score for Ronan Tronchot’s film “Paternel”, starring Grégory Gadebois and Géraldine Nakache.

Björn has just completed a crazy project: cycling across France from Rennes to Marseille with his piano.
His aim was twofold: to spread his musical universe and to draw inspiration from this journey to create an album.
He went out to meet local residents, to create moments of poetry in unexpected places.
Each concert was a unique sonic experience, shaped by the nuances of place, time and specific emotions.
“Musique pour Herbes Folles” revealed itself as a multifaceted modern musical adventure, an artistic exploration that transcends the traditional boundaries of musical performance.
